After spending four years in the sacred island of Nagaël among women, to further her education, Danaé is now faced with the inevitable return to her home. Leaving her friends whom she considers her soulmates and the freedom she cherished in a place she adored is challenging. While she missed her family and her home, she is aware that her parents, the rulers of Thanït, have different plans for her, ones that don’t include joining the priesthood.
Her aspiration is to become a priestess, an independent woman, adviser of kings and queens and the holder of an ancestral power which control nature. She can only assume that role after a final test as a devotee of Alkïan and Samrah, the gods who have created the world and the masters of life. This test involves leaving the haven of Nagaël to experience life in the world for twelve moons. Only those who resist its many temptations and pleasures can return to Nagaël to complete their priestess training.
Danaé possesses a rare and powerful Lïshen, the life energy inherent in all beings, with guidance she can control the elements. Despite her clear determination, she feels a sense of uncertainty within her soul, the reasons for which elude her understanding. A mission assigned by the High Priestess of Nagaël, which takes a frightening turn, exposes how little she knows about the Lïshen, its powers, and the history of her world. Soon, the temptations take the form of an intruder who makes her heart race and stirs uncontrollable desires and feelings within her.
However, hard choices and self-discovery become insignificant when a devastating tragedy strikes, shattering her world. Lost and broken, unable to return to the sanctuary she once sought refuge in, Danaé, with the help of her friends Livi, Maïa, and Tillen, embarks on a quest for answers left behind by those who disappeared. In the shadow a powerful enemy arises. Every step she takes seem to lead her to the unknown and the decisions she now faces have the potential to endanger the lives of many.
